Blue Beach - Bahia de la Chiva

Imagine a 1.5 mile long stretch of deserted sugar sand beach and warm turquoise Caribbean Sea. Blue Beach is about as far east as you can go (legally) on the south side of Vieques, on the old Navy land. It's worth every bump of the rough 20 minute ride off 997 (go through Garcia Gate). Toward the eastern edge you will find covered open-air cabanas, which come in handy (to get a break from the sun) if you are going to spend the day at Blue Beach. Most people agree that snorkeling off the beach around the western side of Chiva Island is some of the best snorkeling on Vieques.
